Middle and High School Math Personalized Learning Plans
We currently have customizable PLPs for grades 6-8, Algebra, Algebra 2, and Geometry. You can see the topics for each level below. If a student is below or above grade level you can use topics from any grade to meet their needs

Grade 6

Review
Fraction and Operations

This section encompasses several key components of fraction operations, such as adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators, multiplying fractions, and dividing a unit fraction by a whole number. These calculations involving fractions provide a foundation for children to study more complex problems in higher grades.
Decimals

There are several key components of decimals, such as adding or subtracting decimals, multiplying decimals, dividing with decimal quotients. Calculations involving decimals are skills that Grade 6 students must master.
Volume and Area

Volume and area are very important topics in geometry. There are several key components of volume, such as volume of right rectangular prisms and volume of composite solids.

Numerical Expressions and Factors

As students progress to higher grades, the difficulty of calculations will increase. More complex operations, such as powers and exponents or mixed operations, will be studied. In this section, the main focus is on learning these concepts.
Fractions and Decimals
Ratios and Rates

This is the final part of the section on fraction and decimal calculations, mainly involving fraction division and decimals division. It also serves as preparation for learning about rates and percentages later on.

This is the students' first introduction to the concepts of ratio and rate. This section focuses on explaining these new concepts and connecting them to real-life situations, to help children understand the concepts better and use them to solve common practical problems.
Percent

This is the students' first time learning about percent. With this new concept, the teacher will relate it to the fractions and decimals the students are already familiar with, to help them better understand the concept.
Algebraic Expressions and Properties

This section lays the groundwork for studying algebra. The actual study of algebra begins in middle school, but here, students will get a preliminary understanding of algebraic expressions and their properties.

Ratios and Rates
Expressions, Equations, and Inqualities
Area

This section encompasses several key components of ratios and rate, such as comparing ratios using ratio tables, and using unit rates to solve problems. By the end of this section, students should be able to use reasoning about multiplication and division to solve ratio and rate problems about quantities.

Expressions, equations, and inequalities are very important contents in the algebra section, closely related to the subsequent study of functions, and are very important topics.

This section primarily explains the formulas for calculating the area of common geometric shapes, such as area of a triangle, parallelogram and polygons.

Preview
Rational Numbers

In this section, the teacher will introduce students to negative numbers, and will also explain addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division operations involving negative numbers.
Algebraic Expressions and Properties

This section mainly involves algebraic expressions with negative numbers and evaluation problems that include operations with negative numbers.
Equations and Inequalities

This section primarily addresses equations and inequalities involving operations with negative numbers.
Proportions

This is the students' first time learning the concept of proportion. In this section, the teacher will focus on explaining the concept of proportion and how to solve proportion problems using multiplication or the properties of equations.

Grade 8

Equations and Inequalities

This section primarily addresses equations and inequalities involving operations with negative numbers. It also includes solving real-world problems using equations and inequalities.
Proportions
Percent

In this section, the teacher will focus on explaining the concept of proportion and how to solve proportion problems using multiplication or the properties of equations.

Sixth-grade students have already learned the concept of percent and understand its relationship with fractions and decimals. This section primarily focuses on solving problems related to percent.

Preview
Graphing and Writing Linear Equations

The primary focus is on graphing linear equations, slope of a line, and writing equations in different forms.
Systems of Linear Equations

This section will explain different methods for solving systems of linear equations, such as the graphing, substitution, and elimination.
Functions

The study of functions is a particularly important part of algebra. This section will introduce the concepts of functions and linear functions, as well as methods for representing functions.
Area and Perimeter

This section primarily covers operations with exponents, such as the product of powers property, quotient of powers property, and zero and negative exponents.
